I'm reading Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, as Told By Its Stars, Writers and Guests right now, and in a weird twist of sorrowful irony, my wife tells me that Johnny Carson has passed away. This is the man who, because he did not want re-runs of the Best of the Tonight Show run on Saturday and Sunday nights, got the ball rolling towards Lorne Michaels starting SNL. I thought I'd post this, since most other blogs or news corporations will not write about this. It's just another accomplishment that Johnny made. A very big one at that!
